Brisbane, locally known as Brissie, is the capital city of Queensland located on the River Brisbane near Moreton Bay.

Brisbane is named after Sir Thomas Brisbane, the governor of New South Wales at the time of the settlement. It is the fourth-largest of Australian´s capitals.
